Hi, I'm Maygen, and this is the official production story for my short film The Dreamer's Guide. The project follows a girl trapped in shifting dreamworlds, guided by a mysterious figure who appears to help her—but may be leading her deeper into fear.
The story explores anxiety, confusion, and identity through dream logic, symbolic environments, and unsettling transformations. I'm documenting the full process, from storyboards and planning to filming, character work, environments, and visual effects.
Environment design
From a real room to a dream space.
Reference photography and a hand-drawn layout established the room. The blockout translated its proportions into 3D, while deep reds, oversized curtains, stars, and stylized lighting transformed the familiar bedroom into an unstable dream.
